Water shapes the way a space is experienced. It draws attention, creates movement, and gives public and architectural environments a distinct identity. For decades, Kusser has built water features at every scale—from expansive fountain fields and water walls to linear water features or runnels and sculptural installations. Developed in close collaboration with architects, owners, and artists, these become memorable places with a lasting presence.
Granite Modular Approach
Our proprietary granite modular system is built from solid natural stone cross-sections instead of concrete substrates with surface cladding. The structural shell itself is granite, allowing slender wall and floor sections with exceptional material strenght. Because the construction does not rely on layered materials, potential failure points are significantly reduced. With no material interfaces prone to separation, the system remains watertight, durable, and low-maintenance for decades.
Granite Modular Approach Benefits
Architectural Value
Solid granite remains resistant and visually refined for decades. The material itself forms the finished surface, creating a distinctive architectural presence with the natural beauty and character of stone.
Structural Performance
Compared to conventional concrete, granite offers exceptional compressive strength and significantly higher tensile strength than concrete, allowing thinner wall and floor sections without loss of performance. The solid structural shell contains no steel reinforcing that could rust, ensuring long-term performance.
Integrally Waterproofed
The solid granite modules do not require waterproofing coatings. By eliminating layered construction and mixed-material interfaces, the system reduces failure points and supports durable, low-maintenance operation.
Precision Fabrication
Modules are machined highly precise and fully assembled and flood-tested in our facility before shipping. Penetrations and mechanical fittings are integrated directly into the shell, minimizing on-site installation time and eliminating leakage.
Unlimited Lifecycle
Solid granite is dense, resistant to cracking, and highly tolerant of treatment chemicals and freeze-thaw exposure. Unlike tile or cladding systems over concrete, it maintains its integrity under demanding climate conditions.
Single-Source Delivery
Engineering, fabrication, and system integration are coordinated through one accountable source. Factory preparation and testing streamline installation and reduce field coordination risk.
Conventional Fountain Construction
While we specialize in solid structural granite, we also support traditional fountain construction methods and hybrid systems when project requirements call for them.
