A granite sphere weighing tons, yet effortlessly set in motion? Stacked, meter-high stone objects balancing on a paper-thin film of water? It looks like magic, but the secret lies in innovative engineering. In the 1980s, Kusser developed the first floating sphere fountains, in which solid granite spheres rotate freely on a film of water just a few tenths of a millimeter thick. This patented innovation laid the foundation for decades of development. Since then, thousands of floating sphere fountains in a wide variety of sizes, colors, and surface textures have been installed worldwide, from local public squares to the Kennedy Space Center.

Benefits
Solid granite
Shape and color that remain unchanged over decades, without any need for coatings. Even when exposed to harsh weather and continuous water effects, granite retains its original aesthetics thanks to its natural hardness and UV resistance.
Resistant to frost and chemicals
Thanks to its very low absorption of water, granite is exceptionally resistant to frost, salt, and cleaning chemicals. This is particularly the case in public fountain systems, in which chlorine is often used as a disinfectant to reliably suppress the growth of bacteria, algae, and other microorganisms.
Variety of materials
Granite can easily be combined with a wide range of other natural stones, or stainless steel elements and offers countless design options thanks to the wide range of colors, textures, and countless creative possibilities.
Low pumping capacity
Despite the considerable weight of the stone, the system requires relatively little pumping capacity, making it well suited for continuous operation.
Turnkey Supplier
A floating sphere fountain begins with a concept, but the project involves much more than the sphere itself. At Kusser, we provide the complete system, from water circulation and filtration to control technology. Our team coordinates the planning and installation process to ensure that every component works together seamlessly. This comprehensive approach supports reliable, continuous operation across a wide range of installations.
Accuracy down to tenths of millimeters
Each individual sphere is precision-machined and ground to an accuracy of a tenth of a millimeter. This exceptional accuracy is the basis for the unique ease of movement of the patented floating sphere fountains from Kusser. Just a light touch of the hand, even a child’s hand, is enough to set the sphere playfully moving without any effort.
