As part of the redesign of the spa gardens for the Gartenschau Bad Herrenalb 2017 horticultural show, four post tensioned granite bridges were built. They span the renatured Alb stream and connect the untamed and romantic part of the gardens to the generously sized park meadows along the spa promenade. The slender granite bridges were chosen by the Gartenschau committee, not just for aesthetic reasons, but also due to the cost and longevity.

Unlike the wooden bridges that had to be replaced in the spa gardens, the post tensioned granite bridges no longer have any annual maintenance costs. Their life-span will also be considerably longer.
